RULES

The SISBA was formed in May 1990 to give scratch
bowlers over 45 years of age (men), and 40 years of age (women), the opportunity
of competing in a scratch tournament at least once a month in the intermountain
area. (40,Forty)
A) The administrative fee
is $10.00 per year, payable at the first tournament the bowler enters of each
bowling season. Charter members are exempt.
B) Administrative fees
and expense money collected at each tournament shall be used at the discretion
of the tournament director for the operation of SISBA.
C) Tournament entry and
administrative fees may be paid by check, money order, or cash. If the SISBA
receives a bad check from an individual, his/her entry in all future
tournaments must be paid either by money order or cash. A $15.00 fee will be
assessed to any bowler submitting a check that is returned, the fee will be due
prior to his/her participation in another tournament.
1. All bowling will be scratch. This tournament is
open to members of USBC and their rules and the rules of SISBA will apply. If a
bowler refuses to abide by these rules, they will no longer be able to
participate in any SISBA tournament.
2. The SISBA director will settle all disputes not
covered by SISBA or USBC rules.
3. The tournament season will run from September
to April with the last Sunday in April or the first Sunday in May being
designated the Grand Finals Championship. There will be eight (8) or more
qualifying tournaments plus the Grand Finals. A bowler must bowl in or pay
into at least four (4) tournament entries to be eligible for the Grand
Finals Tournament.
4. The tournament format will consist of five (5)
games qualifying with one squad on Sunday(excepy Elko & any House with
less then 16 Lanes.. The field will be cut to the top 12/14/18/24 depending on total entries. The top qualifier from each squad, from each
division will automatically draw
byes in the first match play. The top qualiers above the cut
line from each squad will
advance to the qualifying round.
When there are three squads offered, the high qualifier from each division will
get the Bye. Each will then bowl a
two (2) game match, head to head, the top qualifier other than the first place qualifiers of each squad, bowling against the bottom qualifier, etc. The
Four top qualifiers will bowl with each other in the first match play round for
qualifying score. The winners of the two-game match round along with the Four
top qualifiers then will bowl a one-game, head-to-head match, total points
from the two-game match determining the seeding. Total pin fall for the
entire tournament will position the bowlers for the step-ladder finals.
A) In case of ties in
qualifying in the top 12/14/18/24, high game will determine the upper
position. If 12/14/18/24 place is a tie, then a one-game roll-off will
be bowled to determine this position.
B) In case of ties during
quarter-final rounds, the highest two-game total will determine the upper
position. Ties during the semi-final round and the finals will be determined by
a two-frame roll-off.
C) If there are 48 or
less bowlers, the first cut will be to the top ten (12); 49 to 64 bowlers, cut
to 14; 65 to 80, cut to 18, 81 and over cut to 24. This may be adjusted as per
Directors Discretion. The prize list will be adjusted accordingly.
D) After qualifying, the number one
qualifiers will draw byes in the two-game match elimination, but will bowl the
two games with each other to determine positioning score for the next
match. The Fifth seed will
bowl the last (8,12, 14, 18, 24) seed, etc. in the two game match play. If
there are less than 30 bowlers, the match play will be eliminated and the top
four division leaders will proceed to the step-ladder finals to determine the
winner.
E) In the one-game match
play, total points for the tournament will determine seeding with the number
one seed bowling against the last seed from the two-game match play.

Tournament fees will be set at $100.00 each. Each participant will draw for
lane assignments.
6. The pay-off for each tournament will be as soon
after the match as the director can issue the checks. The prize ratio shall be
at least one (1) in six (6) entries for all the tournaments. All prize fees
collected will be returned 100 percent to the participants after each
tournament. If a participant has pre-paid an entry but must cancel, the entry
can be held for a future tournament or applied to the tournament as an entry
towards qualifying for the Grand Finals tournament.
7. Re-entry is permitted if more the on squad, but
a bowler will only be permitted one spot in the match-play and cash only once.
Re-entry is limited to spots available, at no time will there be more than
three (3) bowlers per lane*. Reserved entries will be held until 15 minutes
before the squad for which the reservation was made. Re-entry and walk-in
entries will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Re-entries will count
towards eligibility in the Grand Finals Tournament.
8. Bowlers are responsible for paying fees,
verifying their scores and totals, and using bowling equipment that meet USBC
specifications. Inappropriate conduct such as abusive language, profanity
and other misconduct on the lanes will not be tolerated. All bowlers must
display good sportsmanship.
9. Bowlers who have cashed in the top five (5) in
the Regular Professional Bowlers Association tournament in the past five (5)
years or who are on the PBA exempt List are not eligible to participate in the
SISBA
10. Tournament
attire shall be nice slacks, cords, jeans or walking shorts, name on the
shirt is not mandatory. No hats, caps, or sweats allowed. Women
may wear nice skirts. The tournament director’s discretion on what is
appropriate attire will be the final determination. 1st Time Bowlers
will be excused, but must conform there-after or will not be allowed to bowl. Shirts
will be available for sale if attire doesn’t conform!
11. Bowlers quitting the tournament without good
cause and without the permission of the tournament director will be subject to
a fine up to the amount of a tournament entry fee, which must be paid before
he/she bowls the next tournament.
12. Premature termination of any SISBA tournament
brought about by war, national disaster, or emergency causes relating thereto
by fire, natural disaster, or any reason, beyond the control of SISBA, shall
cause all advertised prize, guaranteed or otherwise, to be pro-rated in
accordance with the number of entrants who have bowled in each of the events up
to the time of such determination.
13. Bowlers who have had 3 tournaments and have
reasonable excuse (sickness, other commitments& etc. as per directors
acceptance) for not making 4 tourneys will be offered A chance for the finals
by buying in the 4th entry for Entry less the lineage.
* In the Grand Finals, there will be one squad
only, with unlimited bowlers assigned to each pair, evenly disbursed as needed.
