Contests to celebrate
National Bowling Week
5/3/2006
The
United States Bowling Congress and the Bowling Proprietors'
Association of America are sponsoring three national contests
for adult and youth bowlers to help launch National Bowling
Week, which runs Aug. 26 through Sept. 1.
Art and
photography
contests feature divisions for
youth, amateur adults and professional artists. The subject
matter must be bowling-related and entries will be accepted June
1 through Aug. 1.
An essay
contest encourages writers to
share their best bowling moments or describe how bowling has
positively impacted their lives. All youth 17 years or younger
may enter and there also will be a separate division for adults
who are USBC members. Entries will be accepted through July 1.
National contest winners will be recognized during National
Bowling Week. Adult winners will receive cash prizes; youth
winners will receive scholarship awards. Winning art, photos and
essays will be featured in USBC and BPAA publications.
National Bowling Week also will feature complimentary
coaching clinics, equipment checks and in-school clinics and a
youth Bowling Blast-Off program, pro bowler appearances and
more.
