Formal
records of the Salt Lake City Bowling Association began in 1938, when
the late Curtis J. Butts, then manager of the Ritz and Temple Lanes
compiled the first average manual. Frank K. Baker, now Secretary
Emeritus of the ABC, was Secretary of both the Salt Lake City
Association and the Utah State Bowling Association 1938. Virtually no
bowling records were kept prior to 1938, and as Frank wrote, 'the
Manual fills a long felt need by perpetuating the records and list of
Champions in a convenient form'.
